Newcomers to a new city often face various challenges as they navigate their way through unfamiliar environments.
Common challenges include language barriers, cultural adjustment, employment gaps, social isolation, access to services, housing issues, discrimination and prejudice, legal & documentation issues, etc.
Support systems, community organizations, and initiatives can play a crucial role in helping newcomers overcome these challenges.
At Horizon Resource Network e.V., our goal is to contribute our quota to plugging these gaps by offering support, resources, and a sense of belonging to newcomers in Germany.
In cooperation with the Sozialbehörde Hamburg, we recently started a Social Integration Hub (SIT Hub) for migrants in Hamburg.
The social Integration Hub is an interfaith and intercommunity meeting point for newcomers, migrants, refugees, visitors, etc., to connect, receive/share helpful resources, support one another, show/receive intercultural love and solidarity, build social capital, and a sense of community.
At the Social Integration Hub, various social, academic, and cultural programs are implemented to facilitate a smoother transition and enhance the overall well-being of newcomers in Hamburg.
The overarching goal is to promote social inclusion, social cohesion, and social participation of migrants as individuals and as groups.
