Turn Funding Opportunities
into Successful Applications
A structured, hands-on mentoring programme from practitioners at Horizon Resource Network e.V. — built on real-world experience with Erasmus+, EU Structural Funds, and German federal and state funding frameworks.
Expertise in
Who Is This For
Designed for Mission-Driven Organisations
Whether you are writing your first public grant or navigating complex European funding architectures, this programme meets you where you are.
Emerging Nonprofits
Newly registered organisations seeking their first funded project and needing to understand funder logic from the ground up.
Migration & Integration Work
Organisations in the migration, refugee support, and social integration space navigating German and EU funding landscapes.
Youth & Education Providers
Teams pursuing Erasmus+ KA1/KA2, ESC programmes, or non-formal education funding for the first or second time.
Experienced PMs Upskilling
Project managers who write applications but want to sharpen their strategic argumentation, logic frameworks, and budget design.
Why HRN
Practitioner Knowledge,
Not Theory
HRN's team has written, submitted, and managed funded projects across multiple frameworks — from Hamburg state grants to EU funding.
Sector-specific fluency
We work in migration support, health promotion, and youth empowerment — and understand the language funders in these sectors expect.
Live proof points
Our projects are active evidence of our application methodology — not case studies from years ago.
Lean team wisdom
Our mentoring is built for organisations without large grant-writing departments — practical, low-overhead, and immediately applicable.
The Programme
Your Pace. Real Outcomes.
Six modules blend guided self-study, structured practice, and live 1:1 coaching — so you build knowledge and confidence at the same time.
Foundations of Funding Applications
A practical ~60-page guide walking you through how funders think, what every section of a grant application requires, and how to establish a coherent internal logic across your entire submission.
Guided Practice Application
You receive a pre-defined project scenario — realistic, sector-relevant — and write a full funding application. This is where theory becomes muscle memory.
1:1 Application Review Session
An online one-to-one session with your HRN mentor. We review your Module 2 application together, compare it with the model, and discuss targeted improvements with concrete reasoning.
Advanced Application Strategies
A ~45-page advanced guide covering the elements that separate adequate applications from highly competitive ones — essential for EU funding rounds and multi-partner projects.
Real-World Application Draft
Apply the skills to an actual planned project, a current application in progress, or a past project. This is where the mentoring becomes directly useful to your organisation's real funding goals.
Final Review & Strategic Debrief
A final 1:1 coaching session on your real application. We analyse it in depth, provide actionable feedback, and optionally offer one additional revision cycle.
How It Works
From Interest to Funded Project
Four clear stages take you from an initial conversation to a polished, submission-ready application.
Initial Conversation
We discuss your organisation's profile, current funding challenges, and target frameworks.
Programme Begins
You receive your Module 1 guide and begin self-paced study on your own timeline.
Practice & Coaching
Alternating written exercises and live 1:1 sessions build your skills progressively.
Real Application
The programme concludes with your own application polished to submission standard.
From Our Network
What Participants Say
Organisations across Europe have used this programme to move from confusion to funded.
"Navigating Erasmus+ for the first time felt overwhelming. The mentoring gave us a clear framework, real feedback on our draft, and the confidence to submit — and we received funding."
"The programme helped us understand how to frame our project logic in a way funders actually respond to. Our first EU application went from rejected to approved in one cycle."
