What does solidarity look like in action?
For us at Horizon Resource Network e.V. (HRN e.V.), it looks like people coming together—sharing ideas, challenges, and a common commitment to empowering young people across Europe.
That spirit was fully alive at the Jahrestreffen.ESK.2026, the Annual Meeting of the European Solidarity Corps, where we joined organizations from across Germany in a powerful space of learning, reflection, and connection.
Stepping Into a Community of Purpose
From the moment we arrived in Bonn, it was clear: this was more than just an event.
As a holder of the European Solidarity Corps Quality Label, HRN e.V. was among organizations deeply engaged in creating opportunities for young people to grow, contribute, and lead.
And yet, what stood out most was not titles or structures—but the shared energy in the room.
Everyone was there for the same reason: to make youth work more meaningful, more inclusive, and more impactful.
Learning Through Real Conversations
The most valuable moments didn’t just happen in formal sessions—they happened in conversations.
We heard honest reflections from other organizations:
-
What works—and what doesn’t
-
How they navigate challenges in project implementation
-
Creative ways to engage and support young people
These exchanges reminded us of something important:
👉 No organization has all the answers—but together, we get closer.
For HRN e.V., these insights will directly influence how we design and improve our future projects.
Aligning With a Bigger Vision
Beyond the exchanges, the event offered clarity on where the European Solidarity Corps is heading.
Understanding the evolving priorities of the programme helped us reflect on our own direction:
-
Are we doing enough to foster inclusion?
-
How can we increase the long-term impact of our projects?
-
Where can we innovate further?
These are the kinds of questions that move organizations forward—and we’re taking them seriously.
A Moment That Stood Still: 30 Years of Youth Volunteering
One of the most powerful moments came during the celebration of 30 years of EU youth volunteering.
It wasn’t just a milestone—it was a reminder.
A reminder that behind every project, every activity, and every initiative, there are real stories:
-
Young people discovering their purpose
-
Communities growing stronger
-
Connections that cross borders and cultures
At HRN e.V., we are proud to be part of this legacy—and even more motivated to contribute to its future.
Why This Experience Matters for HRN e.V.
We didn’t leave Bonn with just notes and contacts—we left with renewed clarity and energy.
This experience:
-
Strengthened our network within the ESC ecosystem
-
Gave us practical ideas to improve our work
-
Reinforced our commitment to youth empowerment and solidarity
But more importantly, it reminded us why we do what we do.
What Comes Next?
For us, participation is never the end—it’s the starting point.
The real work begins now:
-
Turning insights into action
-
Strengthening partnerships
-
Creating even more impactful opportunities for young people
Because at the heart of it all, we believe this:
When young people are empowered, communities transform.
And we’re here to keep building that transformation—one project, one connection, and one experience at a time.
Horizon Resource Network e.V. is committed to empowering young people through international mobility, non-formal education, and capacity-building initiatives. As a holder of the European Solidarity Corps Quality Label, we actively contribute to building a more inclusive and connected Europe.
