African-German Doctoral Summer School

Social integration plays a decisive role in the success of doctoral students and researchers with migrant backgrounds. Insufficient social interaction can limit the success of immigrants pursuing their Doctoral degrees in Germany.

The African-German Doctoral Summer School allows participants to develop integration skills. It is both theory-based and practice-oriented and provides a multidisciplinary perspective and a comprehensive understanding of the concept of integration, knowledge about the complexity of intercultural issues and multi-/interculturality.

The Summer School features workshops, capacity-building training, panel discussions, and social-cultural empowerment to facilitate academic excellence and social integration.

Participants will be able to delve into topics beyond their current research, gain new knowledge that can be leveraged for career and personal advancement, network with like-minded people, and build sociocultural competence to live fulfilling lives in Germany.

The seminars at the African-German Doctoral Summer School are led by a team of experienced professionals from academia and civil society. These experts, many of whom are from institutions and groups that actively promote the integration of migrants in Germany, bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the table. In addition to the formal sessions, participants will engage in social activities, excursions, and group work, all designed to foster informal communication and enhance their capacity to excel in their work and integrate into the social fabric of the community.

The 2nd African-German Doctoral Summer School takes place in Hamburg from 09.09.2024 – 14.09.2024.
