About the Summer School

The African-German Doctoral Summer School is an interdisciplinary program designed to foster intellectual exchange, research collaboration, and sociocultural integration among doctoral students and early-career researchers. Now in its third edition, this initiative brings together scholars from diverse fields to engage in high-level discussions, develop essential skills, and build networks that contribute to a sustainable future.

Through seminars, interactive workshops, and collaborative research opportunities, participants will refine their academic expertise while exploring cross-cultural perspectives on global challenges. Social evenings and cultural activities will further enrich the experience, strengthening connections between participants.

– Doctoral candidates/students with African/migration background (internationals)
– Early-stage post-docs with African/migration background (internationals)
– Highly motivated Master’s students aspiring to pursue a Doctoral degree

The summer school fee includes the application fee, summer school materials, attendance certificate, lunch, afternoon/evening social activities & events during the week and a barbecue.

Other expenses, such as meals (breakfast & dinner), accommodation, insurance, personal expenses, and extra activities (such as trips outside the town), are not included in the price.

We are happy to provide you with information about accommodation and other necessities.

Furthermore, after you complete your registration and make the due payments, you will receive a supporting document for your visa application (if applicable).
