We are proud to announce that Horizon Resource Network has been awarded the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Quality Label — accredited for both the hosting and sending roles.

This certification, issued by the European Commission, formally recognises that HRN meets the principles, objectives, and quality standards of the European Solidarity Corps programme.

It is not a certificate of intention — it is a verified assessment of our organisation’s capacity to offer meaningful, well-supported volunteering experiences to young people from across Europe and beyond.

What this means in practice

As a host organisation, HRN can welcome international volunteers to work alongside our team in Hamburg — contributing to our programmes in migration and integration, youth empowerment, wellbeing, and intercultural education. Volunteers become active participants in real community work, not observers on the sidelines.

As a sending organisation, HRN can prepare and support young people from our community to volunteer abroad — connecting them to partner organisations across Europe and giving them the tools, language support, and mentorship to make the most of the experience.

Why this matters to us

International solidarity has always been part of how HRN thinks about its work. We believe that people grow — and communities grow — through genuine encounters across difference. The ESC Quality Label opens a formal, funded pathway for that belief to translate into practice, year after year.

It also deepens our commitment to young people who often don’t see international mobility as something available to them. We want to change that — and the ESC programme gives us the infrastructure to do so.

What comes next

With the Quality Label in hand, HRN can now publish volunteering opportunities on the European Solidarity Corps Portal and begin actively developing volunteering projects with partner organisations. We are currently exploring partnerships across Europe for our first hosted volunteering placements, with a focus on organisations working in social inclusion, intercultural education, and civic empowerment.

If your organisation holds an ESC Quality Label and shares our values, we’d love to connect.
